Like the rest of Ukraine, Ukrainian artists have been impacted by the war. Artmajeur here gives them the opportunity to talk about their daily lives. Today, discover the testimony of the artist Zora from Drogobych (Ukraine)

Drogobych, Ukraine

I stayed in the place I grew up. I live in the western part of Ukraine, which is mostly safe. Even though there are rockets here, this place is a paradise compared to the south and east of the country or the cities that have been freed.

Since the war started, I have been too stressed to draw for a month. I could do it physically, but I couldn't do it mentally. Every morning, I thought about what I could do to help today. I was very busy buying and giving out food for the soldiers, making food for the displaced, sending money to the army, and crafting safety nets. I was stressed out and excited. Obviously, I also help now. But now I only do it sometimes and still have time to work.

How can war not make people less creative? When I first started painting, I payed a lot. The sales on electronic platforms give me a chance to take care of my family, help the poor and homeless, and support our army, of course.

I would really like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone in the world. All of your support is very important. I realized this when dozens of people told me they liked my work, bought my paintings and digital copies of them, and asked me to leave Ukraine and move in with them. The world can be divided in black and white, and I t's nice to know there are a lot more people who prefer the light to the darkness. If we are not alone,  Ukraine will prevail! And everyone will benefit from it.

I also paint on a large scale, which is called monumental painting. Here is a painting of one of the walls in my city's hospital for children with infectious diseases.
