Andrey Latyshev
Kharkiv, Ukraine
I'm currently residing in Kharkiv, the city in where I was born and raised, at the flat that I own there. Since the battle started, I haven't even left the house, yet the city area is still considered a combat zone. The majority of my collection, on which I've spent years working, is located in the countryside. You shouldn't go there, despite the fact that the region was just just liberated from occupation. It seems that nobody has any ideas about what to do with the wooden sculptures.
All of the works that are currently for sale were produced during the wartime.
When I work, I don't think too much or have specific ideas about anything. When I'm working on a piece, the matter, the wood from the tree, will talk to me and tell me what to do.
My first experience with selling my artwork online was on the Artmateur website. During the war, this was my primary means of support financially. It is a wonderful thing that I am able to sell my work. Perhaps there will come a day when I can make the transition from working to focusing on my art.
I want to highlight the natural splendor of the wood. Each individual piece is intended to reveal a distinct aspect of the personality, silhouette, or perhaps a tale that is concealed inside the many color patterns. Every piece of wood is unique in its own way, whether it is dense and black with sparkles or light, brilliant, and gentle. Each piece of wood has its own character.
