Greek visual artist The Krank has completed a 1,000 square-meter land art project near Greece's Mongonissi bay for the Paxos Biennale 2022. The large-scale installation, titled 'Footprint,' is a poignant metaphor for humanity's ongoing and devastating impact on ecological systems around the world. The artist worked silently for 15 days to create this impressive work, shaking up the island of Paxos with his bold and touching message. The Krank's artwork, in particular, emphasizes the critical need to strike a balance between economic growth, social well-being, and environmental conservation, especially as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cast a shadow over global sustainable development discussions.

'Footprint' conceptually deals with the meaning of loss. Nature, ecosystems, and biodiversity are all in a negative state of flux. The parallelism that emerges from my work's impermanence and our presence as a species reinforces the message I wanted to convey. 'Everything is in flux, and nothing should be taken for granted,' the artist says.
