About the author
Cyrille Mulot is a photographer and author based in Caen, France, but his artistic journey is imbued with memories of his childhood and adolescence spent in Morocco. In his adopted Normandy, he exchanged the blue skies of his youth for a more contrasting sky, cherished by romantics.
His main artistic activity consists of the creation of portraits, a field in which he excels. Cyrille often portrays romantic characters to create a dark and aesthetic universe, merging history and mythologies. He prefers to work alone on his projects, conceptualizing and producing his compositions himself. His artistic approach is based on the confrontation between the immediacy of digital photography and meticulous craftsmanship to construct his subjects.
Cyrille often seeks the imperceptible flaw and realistic light which give his portraits an atmosphere of subtle decadence, a melancholy evoking the worlds of the circus or cabaret. Unlike most photographers, he favors shooting without flash, using little equipment, and he never resorts to cropping his images.
In addition to his portraits, he also takes landscape photographs to accompany the scenography of his exhibitions, thus creating a romantic universe that harmonizes with his unique portraits. Cyrille Mulot continues to explore the corners of photography to capture the essence of melancholy and aesthetics in his images.
