Kim Seungwoo is a contemporary Korean sculptor known for his extraordinary sculptures crafted from coins. Based in Seoul, South Korea, Kim is celebrated for his ability to transform humble currency into intricate and detailed three-dimensional artworks.

Born in 1978 in South Korea, Kim Seungwoo pursued his passion for sculpture by graduating from the Department of Sculpture at Chungnam National University and the Arts Graduate School at Hongik University.

Kim's artistic process involves meticulously stacking coins, sometimes numbering in the thousands, to create flowing and swirling patterns that give life to his sculpted human forms. Despite the laborious and repetitive nature of his work, Kim finds solace and satisfaction in the process of creating each piece. He describes the act of stacking coins as a time of tiredness and hardship, yet also a source of energy and ecstasy as the sculpture gradually takes shape.

For Kim Seungwoo, each sculpture is more than just a collection of coins; it is a reflection on the concept of money itself. He aims to transcend the functional value of currency and instead explores themes of social ambition, value, and the pros and cons associated with money. Through his artwork, Kim challenges viewers to reconsider the significance of currency and its impact on society.

Kim Seungwoo's innovative approach to sculpture has garnered international acclaim, cementing his reputation as a pioneering artist in the field. His work continues to captivate audiences around the world, provoking thought and contemplation on the intersection of art, money, and society.
