Igor Skaletsky is a contemporary Russian painter. Skaletsky's collage technique is borrowed from avant-garde artists of the 1920s. Typical for his artworks is sign saturation and recognizability of images. The artist masterfully mixes photography and painting, achieving the effect unattainable while using the pure traditional technique.

In his works, Igor Skaletsky freely manipulates the recognizable images of the history of art and high culture and ironically unites them in the stylistics of fashion magazines. His works send us back to patterns of our perception and, at the same time, destroy them. This secret passage to the unconscious, our visual habits become juggling toys in his hands. The spectator lives through his images as if through the shock of the unexpected discovery of a familiar story.

Igor Skaletsky was born in 1978, in Russia, where he graduated from the Moscow State Academy of Arts. Igor Skaletsky participated in art fairs in New York, Basel, Paris, and Moscow, and also in the exhibitions in the Moscow Modern Art Museum. He lives and works in Tel Aviv, Moscow and Berlin.
