Ich bin Erik Hils, ein französischer Maler.
Ich erinnere mich mit zarten Emotionen daran, dass ich seit meinem vierten Lebensjahr mit einem Bleistift in der Hand ein paar Porträts kritzelte, bevor ich später die Fliesen unseres Bauernhauspflasters mit den Farbtöpfen meines Vaters attackierte, die ich in seiner Werkstatt stahl. Die erhaltenen Ermahnungen reichten nicht aus, um das Bedürfnis zu unterdrücken, mich zu äußern.
Parallel zu meiner beruflichen Tätigkeit habe ich nie aufgehört, meine Leidenschaft für das Malen auszuüben, mal malte ich Bilder zu meinem eigenen Vergnügen, mal als Auftrag von Kunden, die von meinem untypischen Stil angezogen wurden. Ich hatte auch die Ermutigung, an mehreren Ausstellungen in meiner Heimatstadt, in Nancy, in Paris und einmal in New York teilzunehmen."
