Biography
Carmen Tyrrell art work is a celebration of the Human Body through expressive paintings and drawings. She is fascinated by Its beauty, complexity and sophistication as structure and through movement. Every day life, society with people features and interaction are a rich source of inspiration and interpretation. Sensual "Women Figures", emotional "Lovers" with powerful feelings of love and passion and "Portraits" showing features and emotions, are her subjects. She alternates the subjects and media and creates a series at the time.
The style of work is energetic and spontaneous. The paintings are usually bold, colourful and textural with vibrant and tonal combinations using mainly the palette knife or wide brushes. The drawings are powerful and expressive.
Her art reflects a calming atmosphere, artistic beauty, harmony and happiness.
Born and educated in Bucharest - Romania, graduated the Academy of Art, living and working in England. Past and present participation and prize winner in solo and group exhibitions in Bucharest and U.K.
Her works are collectible, highly regarded and can be found worldwide in private collections as U.K, Europe, U.S. ,Canada and Dubai, usually many art collectors have a good number of her works in their private collections.

Statement about my work/ La déclaration de mon travail
I am an U.K. artist, living and working in NW England. Born and educated in Bucharest the capital of Romania.
I am trying to express myself in my own energetic and spontaneous style using a variety of media and techniques.
It could be more or less simplified, depends how I feel about the subject.
My works are paintings and drawings of female nudes, couples in love and portraits.
Sensual, delicate and emotional posture of female nudes or couples, they are subjects just coming out of my mind or they are inspired by images I see every day.
Expressive composition and harmonious colours are the basic of my work. My paintings are usually bold, colourful and heavy textured. I use the palette knife more often than the brushes.
I like to work with charcoal in my drawings, feeling free to play with lines, shapes and tonalities.
is a sort of process of modelling with lines.
Once I start working I am out of this world and embarked in a creative process that I never know when and how it ends.
I create my works to carry the message of artistic beauty, harmony and happiness.
Over the years, I took part in several solo and group exhibitions in Romania and NW England.
At present I sell my works mainly on line building a good reputation about my high standard of professionalism.
More and more art lovers enjoy to view and buy art online from the comfort of their home.
When thinking about buying art, I would suggest: "Buy what YOU really like!".

Fine Body of Work
A new exhibition showing a study of the human body has started at Littleborough Art Gallery.
“Drawing the Figure” features work by Romanian artist Carmen Tyrrell, an expert in life drawing.
Carmen was born and educated in Bucharest and worked alongside experienced Romanian artists before moving to England in 1994. Her particular interest is showing the endless diversity of people’s features, body shapes and profile.
The exhibition started at the gallery on Thursday and continues until 21 February 2004
