Axel Jung
A central theme in Axel Jung's life is religion and spirituality. It began with the search for the true self. The self that is independent of the view of others and survives life and death.
He has therefore been practicing Buddhism and Zen meditation since his youth. But other religions such as Christian mysticism and Sufism also serve as a guide.
Peace and meditation are very important elements. For the artist, peace is an absolute blessing and total pleasure. Many paintings are dedicated to the theme of peace and are intended to radiate this in the room.
The painting technique is realistic but not perfectionist or hyperrealistic. It is not about imitating photos but about a painterly confrontation with the world. There are deliberate blurs in the paintings to show space and to set the focal points.
The painting medium used is mainly linseed oil, which means the painting process is very slow and usually takes weeks.
Many of the motifs do not actually exist and are a compilation created in the painting.
The motifs always have a personal connection and only the artist's own photographs are used as photographic sources.
