PORTUS OJOMO
Ojomo Portus was born in 1952 in Nigeria. Painter, sculptor of monumental arts. Studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. and at the Instituto Allende - Mexico
His training was based on the values of western (mainly European) history and tradition in art.
A contemporary artist in diaspora who evolved and intermingled the African art tradition with the dominant western culture in the arts.
The vibrant expression and strong contrasting colors gives Ojomo's paintings thier special appeal.
Already had several exhibitions at home and abroad.
Works in official collections like bronze bas-relief for the official inauguration of the 60 years existence of "CV Onze woning" in Antwerp, Belgium in 1989. Bronze bas-relief for Jos Verhelst Square in Antwerp.Belgium in 1998.
Several private entities, paintings, glass and lead-source works.
Commissioned and executed a 45m2 wall relief depicting the history of the Post at the Antwerp X post sorting center, Belgium in 2009.
Work selected to represent Nigeria for the 2010 FIFA International Fine Arts in South Africa. Awarded the Emile van develde Prize for creativity kapelen Belgium 2010.
Artist - participator behind “the Wall” for the historical exposition “UNCENSORED” at the Africa Museum in Tervuren, Brussels in 2011- 2012. Registerd in the Arto 2000 Biografisch Lexicon Plastische Kunst in Belgie. Works on Artprice.
