Aldemir Martins

He was a self-taught Brazilian plastic artist, painter, illustrator and sculptor who achieved great international fame. Born on November 8, 1922, in the region of Vale do Carirí, state of Ceará, Aldemir dedicated himself to drawing since he was a boy. He has a vast work, which is very important for the panorama of plastic arts in Brazil. The artist's technical quality made him a master in portraying the life of Brazilians from the northeast. He exhibited his engravings and panels throughout Brazil and Europe. On February 5, 2006, at the age of 83, Aldemir died of a heart attack in São Paulo.
