Adolphe Cabon
Adolphe CABON was born in Quimper (Finistère), on December 2, 1903. He did his military service (E.O.R.) in Saint-Maixant in 1923.
After graduating from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Angers, he did sales for a few years in Quimper, then became a furniture dealer in Flers-de-l'Orne in Normandy in 1930.
Mobilized in September 1939 as a Reserve Lieutenant, he was taken prisoner at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines and interned at OFLAG XVII A. Repatriated and demobilized in November 1941, he sold his furniture store to practice the profession of decorator draftsman, in furniture design, model making and advertising.
He was mobilized again in October 1944 in Bayeux then in Caen, until October 1945 and was then promoted to the rank of Reserve Captain.
He was one of the founders of the "Peintres du Bocage" and their President for 17 years.
He was a talented draughtsman and watercolourist and he also did oil painting, miniature, illustration and sculpture.
Curator of the Flers Museum, he worked on the restoration of the Château de Flers, enhanced the kitchens of the château with rustic Norman furniture and set up a museum of old weaving looms, thanks to donations and acquisitions. He had several rooms of the old apartments of the castle restored and reinstalled the Art Museum, which has a rich collection of paintings and sculptures from the 16th to the 20th century (During the 39/45 war, all the collections had been put in crates).
He illustrated the review of the art and history society "Le Pays Bas-Normand".
He married in Paris in 1926 with Adeline DORET 1902-1973 and had 3 children: Thérèse 1927-2002, Yves born in 1929 and Michel born in 1939, who attended the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and who also paints and sculpts.
He died in Paris on January 13, 1975. He was an Officer of the Legion of Honor and Croix de Guerre 1939-1945.

Biographie d'Adolphe CABON
Adolphe CABON est né à Quimper (Finistère),le 2 décembre 1903. Il fit son Service militaire (E.O.R.) à Saint-Maixant en 1923.
Après avoir fait l'Ecole Supérieure de Commerce d'Angers, il fit du commercial pendant quelques années à Quimper, puis devint marchand de meuble à Flers-de-l'Orne en Normandie en 1930.
Mobilisé en septembre 1939, comme Lieutenant de réserve, il fût fait prisonnier à Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines et interné à l'OFLAG XVII A. Rapatrié et démobilisé en novembre 1941, il revendit son magasin de meuble, pour exercer la profession de dessinateur décorateur, en création de mobilier, maquettisme et publicité.
Il fût mobilisé de nouveau en octobre 1944 à Bayeux puis à Caen, jusqu'en octobre 1945 et est alors promu au grade de Capitaine de réserve.
Ce fût l'un des fondateurs des "Peintres du Bocage" et leur Président pendant 17 ans.
C' était un dessinateur et un aquarelliste de grand talent et il faisait aussi de la peinture à l'huile, de la miniature, de l'illustration et de la sculpture.
Conservateur du Musée de Flers, il a travaillé à la restauration du Château de Flers, mis en valeur les cuisines du château avec du mobilier rustique normand et installé un musée de métiers à tisser anciens, grâce à des dons et acquisitions. Il a fait restaurer plusieurs pièces des anciens appartements du château et a réinstallé le Musée d'Art, qui possède une riche collection de tableaux et de sculptures du 16ème au 20ème siècle (Pendant la guerre 39/45, toutes les collections avaient été mises en caisses).
Il a illustré la revue de la société d'art et d'histoire "Le Pays Bas-Normand".
Il s'est marié à Paris en 1926 avec Adeline DORET 1902-1973 et a eu 3 enfants : Thérèse 1927-2002, Yves né en 1929 et Michel né en 1939, qui a fait l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs et qui lui aussi peint et sculpte.
Il est décédé à Paris, le 13 janvier 1975. Il était Officier de la Légion d'Honneur et Croix de Guerre 1939-1945.
