This piece was made over the course of my summer holidays using micron ink pens, a white gel pen and acrylic paint on 200g/m paper.
The artwork measures 65.50cm.
I employed a combination of realistically drawn subject and an almost abstract background to create this ethereal atmosphere.
The artwork features a space explorer. The ear ring is topped with The Voyager Golden Record from Nasa. She is the embassador of humanity and Earth, carrying our galaxy's data next to her face.
I wanted to capture the feeling of curiosity and doubt, allowing viewers to lose themselves in thinking about the limits of our universe, about the eternal debate of meeting extra-terrestrial forms of life and if it is actually a good idea to seek for life elsewhere.
This piece was inspired by my fascination with nature's beauty; the background shapes come from what I see when I look up while walking in the forest under the tall trees. Inspired by our curiosity to explore further and further, and by my love for the painting by Vermeer ''The girl with the pearl ear ring''.
Hi there! I'm Evan, a passionate beginner artist and car design student from Lorient, living in Turin.
I project my current artistic interests onto paper, one stroke at a time. Welcome into my mind!
Ever since I started studying art in 2017 I have been on a journey to put on canvas how I see the world. My art is a reflection of my soul, each piece is a story or an idea waiting to be told. I find beauty in the details, and my preferred medium is pens and Indian ink because it allows me to control with utmost precision what I am drawing.
I want my art to trigger emotions that we are not used to feeling, not in an unsettling way but rather as a curious exploration of our mind.
