The background of the work, with its shades of white, gray, and red, creates a supernatural atmosphere, as if the woman is moving in another world, a world where life and death disturbingly coexist. Her skin, a graying white, contrasts with the reddish spot on her cheek, where very fine veins can be seen. This spot could symbolize pain or suffering, as if the woman carries on her face the stigmata of her confrontation with death.
Her eyes, of an almost transparent yellow color, are framed by the red of the whites of her eyes. This contrast of colors gives her gaze an almost hypnotic intensity, as if she could see beyond our reality. Her lips, a shiny red mixed with black, add a touch of sensuality to her face, reminding us that death, as frightening as it is, is an integral part of life.
On her head, she wears a red hat, overrun with large earthworms and insects. This hat, both repulsive and fascinating, evokes decomposition, the inevitable cycle of life and death. In her hand, she holds a skull of a broken white color, a universal symbol of mortality.
"The Lady Of Death" is a work that invites us to contemplate our own mortality, to accept the presence of death in our life. As an artist, I wanted to create an image that evokes beauty in terror, life in death. It is an invitation to embrace our humanity, with all its contradictions and mysteries.
