Sergey Khachatryan was born in 1950 in the village Zolakar, Gegharkunik region. He started painting from early childhood. Since 1975 he has been living and working in Yerevan.
Sergey Khachatryan is a member of the Artists’ Union of Armenia, a People’s master, a member of the public organization “Intellectuals of Nor Nork”. He authored a Poetry book entitled “Being’s pulse” (245 pages). His numerous artworks and literary works (poems, stories) were published in the Writer’s almanac “Nork” as well as in other literary journals (“Garun”, “Narcissus”, “Kanch”).
The artist’s colors are influenced by middle Armenian miniature art. In his rural images one can see his childhood memories – the mountains and the simple people living there.
Serkhach is an artist of various genres. His abstract works have been created exceptionally with his soul’s intervention, in a level where the consciousness is nearly absent. “When the colors are on the palette, I start singing with them”, he says. Numerous outstanding artists have honored Serkhach calling him an honest and unfeigned painter.
Since 2000 till nowadays Serkhach has authored 2500 art pieces which can be found in various countries around the world, especially in countries where Armenian communities are present. His pictures can be found in Brussels, in Artists’ houses of Kemerovo and Novosibirsk, in Museum of Zoravar Andranik in Yerevan, as well as in private collections. The artist has had more than twenty exhibitions so far, both solo and group ones, including some overseas.
