Sergey Seleckij was born in 1962 in Minsk, Belarus, in the family of an engineer (mother) and a weightlifting coach (father).
In 1977 Sergey Seleckij graduated from school as a “C” student and miraculously entered the Glebov art school in Minsk. He graduated from it in 1981 and was drafted into the Belarussian army, where he spent two years in Pechi near Borisov. While serving in the ranks of the Soviet army, he felt an incredible craving for knowledge. After the army, he worked for two years in the laboratory of technical aesthetics, where he mastered the work with stencils to perfection. He beautifully stuffed slogans, such as: “Glory to labor!” and "Lenin is forever alive!".
In 1985, having successfully passed the exams in special subjects, and not very successfully in general ones, he entered the Belarusian State Academy of Arts for graphic design, where he was a Lenin scholarship holder and happily studied until 1990. After graduating from the Academy, he began teaching there the program course "Interior and Equipment" of the Faculty of Art and Industry. He was highly respected among the students. Alongside with teaching, he was creating paintings for sale.
He traveled a lot and lived in Berlin for a while. Since 2006 he has been living and working in Lithuania. He teaches drawing and composition at the Design program at the European Humanities University. In 2021 he received the permanent title of Associate Professor. Sergey Seleckij participated with his works in many exhibitions in Minsk, Warsaw, Belgrade, Berlin, Paris, Beijing and other cities. In 2022 he took part in the 7th international watercolor exhibition - biennale in Belgrade. A range of his works are in private collections. In 2021 an album of watercolor works "Life without meaning" was published.
