Philippe Jouan is a contemporary French artist, born in Deauville, Normandy, in 1964. As a painter and visual artist, he currently resides and works in Lecci, located in southern Corsica. Jouan's artistic journey began after studying advertising draftsmanship in Lisieux, Calvados. He initially pursued a career in the editorial field, contributing to a magazine dedicated to role-playing games, before transitioning to roles as a model designer and studio manager within marketing companies. Over time, he engaged in various advertising projects for different large corporations.
Driven by a fervent passion for artistic expression, Jouan's creative pursuits have expanded to encompass a diverse range of mediums and techniques. He has ventured into minimalist painting, exploring both black and white and color palettes while envisioning captivating portraits of women. Additionally, he has delved into clay sculpture, utilizing eco-responsible methods such as recycling, papier-mâché, and upcycling. His artistic repertoire extends to photography and other creative endeavors, including the crafting of utilitarian decorative objects, glass engraving, and the design of original tableware decorations.
Jouan's artistic practice reflects a commitment to sustainability and innovation, as he continually seeks to push the boundaries of traditional mediums and explore new avenues of expression. Through his multifaceted approach to art-making, Jouan invites viewers to contemplate the beauty of form, texture, and color while highlighting the importance of eco-consciousness in creative endeavors.
