Mr. Chlorophyll Art, whose real name is Kazek Biernat, is a self-taught artist passionate about engraving and photography. His artistic journey is closely linked to his deep connection with nature and botany. Each botanical inspiration that emanates from his work finds its origin in his morning explorations of the surrounding meadows and forests. It is during these moments when he takes the time to slow down, observe and appreciate his environment that all the beauty around him is revealed.
Although his professional path has often led him to work with people, sometimes using elements of art therapy, his true passion lies in creating art. Currently, he is in a phase of fascination with cyanotype, an ancient photographic technique ideal for capturing the ephemeral beauty of plants. This technique, which dates back to the 19th century, offers many possibilities for experimentation, allowing unique artistic worlds to be created each time.
In addition to cyanotype, Mr. Chlorophyll Art also excels in the art of natural woodcut and botanical printing. He thus creates works that celebrate nature and botany in varied and inspiring forms.
Cyanotype, one of the noble photographic techniques, uses the light sensitivity of iron salts. The process involves applying a solution of iron salt, potassium ferrocyanide, and water to paper or fabric, creating a photosensitive surface tinted yellow-green. Once dry, the support is exposed to sunlight or a lamp, usually by direct contact with a negative or an object. The images created do not require a camera and have a characteristic blue tint called "Prussian bue". This method takes us back to 1843 and the British botanist Ann Atkins, a pioneer of the technique.
Mr. Chlorophyll Art's work is imbued with this deep connection to nature and botanical richness, while highlighting the timeless beauty of these elements that inspire him.
