Born in 1981 in Orléans, Matthieu Marcé took an early interest in photography and images. But it was not until high school that he truly experienced the pleasure of portrait and landscape photography. His entourage and his first travels will allow him to explore his fascination for shadow and light, the strength of landscapes with sometimes dark and cold atmospheres, often stripped of human presence. The practice of nude photography will come a few years later, resulting from a project aimed at bringing the genre back to the intimate, the private.
It was not until 2020 that Matthieu Marcé decided to free himself from the photographic medium to allow himself to explore new possibilities, combining his skills in computer programming and his search for aesthetics and meaning. Digital art allows him to conceptualize his questions related to the passage of time, to memory and oblivion, to the traces that one can leave behind and after oneself. Very quickly in this research, the random takes an important place, as a form of letting go, of the unexpected to arrive at the uniqueness of the work created. His works are eclectic: figurative, abstract, based on photographic content or even on data collected on the Internet.
