Luciana Gallo, a contemporary Italian painter, navigates her art as an eternal dance between limit and freedom, error and correction, thought and action - a dialectical exploration of the finite and the infinite.
In 1985, she began exhibiting figurative paintings, marking the onset of her artistic journey. The following year, she debuted her first solo exhibition at Palazzo Carrozzi Sannini in Montecatini. During the early nineties, Gallo resided and worked in Miami, Florida, participating in numerous contemporary art exhibitions before returning to Italy to showcase her works in Milan and other cities across the country.
Since 2000, Gallo has committed herself entirely to her artistic pursuit, delving into new multi-material techniques and transforming her figurative style into pictorial surfaces imbued with emotion and symbolism.
Her exhibitions span both Italy and international locales—from Milan, Rome, Naples, Turin, and Palermo to Frankfurt, Paris, Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Barcelona, and Dubai. Notable solo exhibitions include those in 2009 in Rome and Cape Town, South Africa, in 2012 at Andrea Ingegnito Contemporary Art in Naples, and in 2013 at the Voce Di space in New York City.
In 2014, Gallo collaborated with Luca Jurman to curate the Transumanza project at the Triennale di Milano, a traveling exhibition subsequently displayed in Rome, L'Aquila, and Bologna in 2015. She continued to participate in numerous exhibitions, including appearances at ART EXPO in Genoa in 2018 and at the Fuori Salone, Moon Space, in Milan in 2023.
Throughout her career, Gallo has garnered numerous accolades, including the Emerging Artist Award in 2005 (XVII edition of the Arts Award - Culture Award), the International Art Award of the city of Lecce in 2009, accompanied by the Martin Luther King Special Award for Human Rights, and the Critics' Award during the Satura International Contest in Genoa in 2018.
Driven by continuous technical, stylistic, and spiritual exploration, Gallo creates passionate metaphorical narratives that traverse the journey of self and humanity through life's pathways. Compositional and chromatic harmonies intertwine with material surfaces and bursts of color, embodying the artist's energy and vibrant poetry.
