Mixed media on canvas and concrete, 76x63cm
Mix of style, support and texture.
Halfway between sculpture and painting, the Garden series is characterized by a variation of shades of green on canvases trapped in a concrete envelope displaying the codes of graffiti.
Concrete is no longer a simple support, but becomes a real medium.
Graffiti. Universal language found from one end of the planet to the other.
Then, the canvas. Abstract painting, predominantly green evoking a garden in a concrete jungle.
Through this ecologically sounding series, the artist denounces the reduction of plants in urban space

Comeg, a contemporary French painter, epitomizes the spirit of a globe-trotter and ardent lover of discovery. His artistic journey unfolds across diverse landscapes, from Europe, including Italy and Spain, to the vibrant realms of Asia, encompassing Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The impressions of his extensive travels, experiences, and keen observations are now vividly reflected in his creations.
The artistic odyssey of Comeg began in school, where a profound passion for drawing took root, with much of his time dedicated to sketching, armed with a pencil. Around the age of 13, the omnipresence of graffiti in urban spaces became a transformative influence. Reminiscing about admiring massive lettering on Grenoble's highways from the back of his parents' car, Comeg's fascination with graffiti was ignited. This initial exposure to vibrant colors, chrome, and black painted on concrete walls marked the inception of his engagement with the world of graffiti.
From pure lettering and graffiti to abstract and photorealism, Comeg navigates seamlessly between various styles. His contemporary abstract works, hovering between sculpture and painting, encapsulate several facets. Concrete, transcending its role as a mere support, becomes a genuine medium. The codes of graffiti, embedded in his artistic DNA, represent a universal language found across the globe. The canvas, seemingly confined within a concrete casing, often portrays dark, abstract paintings reminiscent of a city plan, where buildings, streets, and roads coalesce.
Comeg's artistic roots are firmly grounded in graffiti and the urban environment. Paradoxically, his workshop in Uzès in the Gard, situated in the countryside, serves as the birthplace of his vibrant creations. Entering Comeg's world is akin to rediscovering something familiar - a raw yet comforting art that echoes his deep connection to graffiti, urban landscapes, and the transformative power of his extensive travels.
