Brygida Figwer-Bronk “In the Realm of Magical Realism”
Brygida Figwer-Bronk was born in Pr.Stargard near Gdansk and spent her childhood there.
1968-1976 Art education at the Lyceum for Fine Arts, including a technical college entrance qualification for design and graphics, with a focus on graphics, design and layout in Gdynia (near Gdansk), then art studies in the graphic arts department, including 2 years of private painting lessons with Prof. Z. Kaledkiewicz in Gdansk. In 1981 she moved to Germany. The desire to draw and paint has accompanied her since childhood. Before she could start her artistic work, however, she first worked as an illustrator for various advertising agencies, at that time in Oldenburg near Bremen. Her artistic passion was graphic illustrations, with abstract lines that could be assigned to magical realism. At that time she mainly worked with colored ink on watercolor paper/cardboard. Over time, this developed into fantastic, illustrative pictures that, in addition to magical realism, also have a philosophical meaning. She also began to work with acrylic, acrylic ink, acrylic gouache and watercolor. Recently she has also discovered oil paint. In her work, Brygida Figwer-Bronk moves between dream and reality, whereby in her graphic images the confrontation with the delicate but very well thought-out lines is often an exciting experience, full of symbolism and dramaturgy.
After moving to the Baltic Sea in 2008, she founded her own studio, BronkArt, in Scharbeutz.
Brygida Figwer-Bronk has presented her works in numerous exhibitions, some of which she also organized herself. She was the founder of the artist group Keramagra and is a member of the Artists' Association for Fine Arts in Ostholstein.
