Barbara Abeltina (born 1988) is Latvia based figurative painter. Graduated in 2017 from the Art Academy of Latvia with a Master’s degree in Painting. She also holds a Master’s degree in Graphic Art and a Bachelor’s degree in Glass Art. Since 2011, she has participated in group exhibitions in Europe and the United States. One of the finalists of Young Painter’s Prize (Vilnius, LT) in 2017. Her works are in private collections in Latvia, USA, Germany, Lithuania.
My paintings represent the idea that the art of our age does not necessarily have to carry an artificially added concept to fit the existing view that "art must have a meaning." A work of art may also be sufficient when performing its most basic function - to be a pure aesthetic pleasure without any subtexts. The artist should also not impose his interpretation as the only truth, but should allow the audience to give in to their personal experience and subjective feelings.
