Andrei Barinoff is a photographer whose artistic style is a continuation of that of his father, also a photographer. Since childhood, he has held a camera in his hands. His first camera was an old Soviet model, the Zenit ET. The subjects he likes the most are natural phenomena, trees, lakes and rivers, textured walls, roofs, villages, cemeteries, ruins and broken objects, and the homeless. His preference is for black and white photography, using older cameras such as the FED-2, Lubitel 2, Nikon FM, and many others.
His style is characterized by an impeccable photographic technique, with a wide gradient of shades of gray and a limited number of white and black spots. His shots exude a certain stillness, with a touch of light irony for shots in urban settings, and a melancholic atmosphere for natural landscapes. Andrei does not like photographing people. He is more drawn to inanimate nature, to a certain type of still life without human intervention.
His works are places of solitude and reflection, where one can meditate on life and death. With deep sensitivity, his photographs provide an intimate space for the mind. He finds his inspiration in the contemplation of nature and the objects that surround him, thus establishing an emotional connection with his subjects.
Andrei Barinoff lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Born in 1992, he continues to capture the world around him with a poetic and contemplative vision, inviting viewers to travel through his photographs and wonder about the mysteries of life.
