Selon Hésiode dans sa Théogonie, Méduse et ses sœurs étaient les sœurs des Grées et vivaient "par delà l'illustre Océan, vers l'empire de la Nuit, dans ces lointaines contrées, où demeurent les Hespérides à la voix sonore," (Théogonie, 270). Les trois sœurs sont souvent mentionnées ensemble, mais c'est Méduse qui est couramment représentée dans la littérature et l'art de la Grèce antique. Le nom de Gorgone vient du mot grec ancien γοργός, qui signifie "sinistre", "féroce" et "terrible", et le nom de Méduse dérive du verbe grec ancien μέδω qui signifie "garder" ou "protéger", ce qui est très approprié étant donné la qualité apotropaïque du visage de la Gorgone, connu sous le nom de Gorgoneion.
Violetta André is a contemporary Franco-Ukrainian artist. Violetta was born in kyiv, Ukraine and has lived in France for twenty years. The artist likes to explore different techniques and is inspired by contemporary artistic, but also literary and musical works. The artist's favorite means of expression are oils on canvas or cardboard, watercolor and Indian ink on paper. These creations seek to provoke emotion and feedback from the public.
His professional career has focused on business, where she managed financial department for many years. Nevertheless, the real passion of Violetta always been a painting. Her interests focus on Impressionists painting, but also Pre-Raphaelites, and modern inspiration. Her artwork reflects different styles and techniques. Many sources of inspiration influenced her artworks, such as traveling, music or literature.
