Stephan B. Reisig was born on July 31, 1964 in Dordrecht, a city in the Dutch province of Zuid-Holland. When he was around one-and-a-half or two years old, his family moved to South Limburg. From an early age, Reisig had a strong desire to express himself creatively, and he consistently pursued various creative activities such as drawing, painting, basket weaving, knitting, and photography throughout his schooling. He attended short periods of teacher training in drawing and handicrafts, and later enrolled in the Fashion Academy Fashion Design in Maastricht, where he exhibited his fashion illustrations with modest success. Reisig then briefly worked as an illustrator for a well-known fashion brand before being admitted to the prestigious Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1988. He graduated Cum Laude in 1990, and has been living and working as a professional artist in Amsterdam ever since.
