I have no intention to portray the surrounding environment or the faces of the people, but only to express the group of pedestrians under the dazzling sunlight. When viewing paintings, most enthusiasts tend to have the misconception that more details are better and the larger the painting is, the better the painting is. I have been challenging this misconception recently by using fewer shapes and lines to express a scene, an atmosphere, and presenting a more compelling effect with such works. The way to express strong light and shadow in painting is often to intersperse a small amount of light color in the middle of a large area of dark color or to use a small white space to create a strong light effect in contrast with a large area of dark color. I have recently tried not to use such conventional means to express light and shadow in my own images. I try to use large areas of white space with a small amount of dark contrast, and for the distant pedestrians I use light colors with white space, using as few elements as possible to suggest the distant pedestrians.

Watercolor

Watercolor is a painting in which gum arabic binds transparent pigments revealing the support of the painting. The gouache, of identical composition, is opaque. A watercolor is a water-based painting on paper. We rarely speak of a painting for a work painted in watercolor.
