BIOGRAPHY:

Francisco Vidal grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia. after attending for tree years School of fine art -Beallas Artes facultity, he worked in his studio in Barranquilla and in 1969 hi left to new York city to open his horizont and have more oportunity. In 1984 he was honor with a grant from the Jerome Foundation in New York City for Study Lithograpy.
Also in 1984 another Scholarship for a studio in National and International Studios Program, project Studios One(P.S.1) for two years from 1984 to 1986 in long Island City, New York
In 1992 gain a Scholarship for work with a prize a $5.000,oo from The Foundation MidAtlantic Arts Foundation National Endowment for The Arts regional Scholarship,Baltimore,Maryland.
He exhibit his paintings in Galleries and Museums in new York City and another city's in U.S.A, also in Mexico, Monterrey (MARCO) hi is in the collection, Colombia, Italy, Spain and SouthAmerica.
His works encompasses landscape, portraiture,figure,still life, i painting in a expressionist-figurative style,elegant and color ful.

ART STATEMENT

My work is expressionist-figurative. I produce series with themes like "The Carnival Series",
"Naked", "The Artist in The Studio", "The Model", " The man Violence", "The Artist", and a new one "Woman and still life on The Beach". this is referring to the thematic.
The process is thoghts departing from the idea of imagining a space to express love, hate, resentment,violence and peace in a contemporary language.
The discovery is using the imagination since I work without a model in from of me. It is a poetic-spiritual-erotic dialogue that together forms a whirlwind wich is the result of a beatiful visual dialogue.
i process everthing in different steps like small formats of ink on paper,pastel watercolor,oil on paper or on canvas and on wood which are the surfaces. The format stars from small to large and this is the way it enriches the creative process and flow in order to to express my dialogue.
