Since time immemorial, Indian women have passed on to their daughters the self perfected knowledge of ritualized wall and floor painting….. a form of visually expressed prayer...... an invocation to the divine to protect their Home and Hearth so as to render it as sacred .
Having been born and brought up in India and now living in the US, I have always been passionate about paintings, murals, artwork etc. with enticing hues of color playing an important role in my life.
Here amongst you I am delighted to present you with a vivid representation of the bright colors and rustic charm of India through the marble sand paintings replete with stone and bead work as also the bold and colorful jewellery, all of which blend to depict the unique flavor of India.
Deriving Inspiration and Imagination from direct encounters with the ancient and contemporary environment my work depicts visualizations of folk artists, gleeful village life, lush fields and rural landscape sometimes using a backdrop of rustic images from Indian monuments thus accumulating colorful moods and live interaction with different aspects of human emotions.
My assortment offers both nuanced and bold hues, providing more opportunity for creativity, along with unexpected color combinations. It holds dark hues such as earthy greens of algae, rich browns of mud, bright shades of mauve, and, volcanic blazes of violet and lava. Underlining various aspects of human emotions and nature, this collectively presents a unique perspective on the subject matter. Throughout the process the uncertainty of the outcome...and beyond.... keeps invigorating my creativity till it fulfills my maverick vision.

Deeksha Arya is an Indian Painter and Jewelry Designer & Maker. She has worked in the capital city of India, New Delhi for almost 10 years and is now settled in The United States. For3 yrs she had been expanding her horizons in Washington and now she is in Virginia from past 1 year doing her magic with colors of culture...!!!
Deeksha has played a significant role not only in the advancement of Indian Traditional & Folk Art, but also in the struggle for an appropriate insight view on Indian Traditional Value of Art. Her art continues to campaign the Indian Traditional Rural Lifestyles with their simplicity and diversity in their clothing & occupation.
Deeksha was born in 1985 in New Delhi, India. She spent five years at the Meerut University studying Law before taking up art as a full time profession. She has been living since 3 yrs in the small town of Olympia in Washington and learned a new life outlook, which she says helped her enhance her own heritage. She has also done her Masters in International Humanitarian & Refugee Law but her love for art could not stop her from being a folk artist.
Deeksha has received numerous awards In India , Washington & Virginia. She has been at Puyallup Fair, Thurston County Fair, Olympic West Retirement Inn and many other art exhibits in Washington, Arlington County Fair in VA , Prince George's County Fair in MD & Exposition De Pinas ,an international art show in Philippines etc.
