Renè, a contemporary artist with a rich background, has captivated audiences with paintings that seamlessly blend serenity with a spirit of comfort. In recent years, he has ventured into a new compositional approach, superimposing iconic images from art, cinema, comics, and advertising. The result is a vibrant explosion of energy, utilizing bright colors and combinations that initially seem like a visual hangover, merging the possible with the impossible, and the real with the fantastic.
In a unique twist reminiscent of Pop Art, the Apulian painter projects images onto the canvas, outlining contours and applying colors with a chromatic fury. Notably, in each eccentric setting, a chandelier descends from the ceiling, ranging from pompous Murano styles to simpler luminaires, providing a familiar anchor in the midst of visual chaos.
As one explores the bizarre scenes, the atmosphere evokes a visual delirium, reminiscent of the sixties and seventies, perhaps pleasing a connoisseur of that era like Renzo Arbore. In one of Renè's works, the popular TV personality Renzo Arbore is depicted, sitting amid Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, and Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring on a torn advertising poster.
Renè's intriguing combinations of images invite a psychoanalytic exploration to unravel the mental associations guiding his pairings. Examples include Einstein confronting Caravaggio's Last Supper and Renè's fondness for depicting Bacchino in dialogue with de Chirico and Roy Liechtenstein. Each piece tells a story of visual intricacy and historical references, making Renè's works a captivating journey through time and imagination.
