---

Like the other "Orientales", this painting is named after a city in North Africa or the Middle East. I enjoyed making a background in drawings and collage, then coming back with more or less transparency with the acrylic and the pattern full or not, and finally the pattern traced in gold filigree. This time I chose less bold colors: creamy whites, greens made from a homemade mixture, turquoise transformed into a much less bold water green, pale pinks, a burnt orange... but the red (made from a collage of paper napkins) remained faithful to my pure colors. There are also the doors and the butterflies, symbols that are extremely important to me.

I studied art in a rather academic way. After my studies, having only a small apartment, I started to express myself with mixed media in small and medium formats. I started my career with a solo show in a Montreal gallery. But after this period I took a baby break and it is only 10 years later that I returned to mixed media, but also to large format abstraction. I propose here my series "Les orientales". However, I will soon exhibit mixed media created during the lockdown.
