Nascido no Cartaxo, foi marceneiro mas foi à pintura que se dedicou até ter falecido no ano passado com Covid-19. Nos anos 60 e 70 teve o privilégio de contactar com vários artistas que marcaram a história do modernismo, em Paris, onde viveu, como foi o caso de Picasso

Artista consagrado que dispos de mais de 700 exposicoes em todo o mundo.

Trabalhou juntamente com pablo picasso em Paris. 

Francisco Gaia nasceu em 1933, no Cartaxo, e começou a expor as suas obras em 1951 tendo realizado várias exposições em Portugal e no estrangeiro. Frequentou a Academia de Pintura Moderna de Haia, na Holanda, onde se formou em Artes Plásticas. Nos anos 60 e 70 passou por Paris e teve a oportunidade de conviver com vários artistas que marcaram a história do modernismo. Foi homenageado com a Medalha de Mérito e Diploma Artístico pelo Círculo de Cultura Luso-Brasileira e recebeu o Diploma do Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades, na Holanda.
Na sua carreira destacam-se as exposições que fez em homenagem a Pablo Picasso em 2003, no complexo INDEG/ISCTE e em 2014, em Barcelona, que contaram com 100 e 40 obras, respectivamente. Em 2006, em Miami, realizou uma exposição com 30 das suas obras e em 2015, na mesma cidade, pintou ao vivo uma tela. Francisco Gaia tem as suas criações representadas em diversos livros de arte e também em vários museus, como Guggenheim, em Nova Iorque.
