These are completely unique and original PMS Mixed Media Sculptural paintings on wood. This diptych is a series within my new series! These paintings and series epitomizes a technique and aesthetic I have been working to perfect over the years and takes them to a new level, both literally and figuratively. Themes in my work of construction, deconstruction, vibrant color, form, texture and decay exist in this piece and have been amplified by a new layer of broken down, assembled blocks of wood, that have been painted and constructed into the piece. This adds a wonderful new element of shadow and an idea of breaking the plane of a conventional surface and frame. I have continued my obsession with incorporating found and recycled materials and assembled them into what I like to think of as a sculptural painting. They are beautiful, rugged and fun to look at from multiple angles and with the changing of light that reflects on the piece. The colors are vibrant and alive and the texture is highly tactile and almost edible. These have a wonderful and vibrant mixture of geometrical shapes, angles and three dimensional forms. It is truly an original series of paintings like no other.
Note: These paintings are painted on wood and assembled reclaimed wooden pieces, and come hang ready.

Preston M. Smith is een hedendaagse Amerikaanse schilder en beeldhouwer. Hij maakt prachtige abstracte schilderijen die orde in wanorde weerspiegelen, schoonheid in waanzin. Hij is geïnteresseerd in constructie en deconstructie en probeert altijd te werken in een staat van pure emotie.
In de loop der jaren is Smiths kunstwerk veranderd van humeurige surrealistische popschilderijen in levendig kleurrijke, tactiele, zeer gestructureerde en bijna eetbare abstracte werken. Zijn mantra voor zijn abstracte werk is kleur, textuur, schoonheid en verval, en zijn werk en leven zijn een uitdrukking van het bewegen van duisternis naar licht.
Smith's werk is tentoongesteld naast David Lynch en op de inaugurele paarse bal voor de inauguratie van president Obama in 2009, waar hij de opdracht kreeg om 12 portretten van de president te schilderen. Zeer recentelijk komt Preston van een succesvolle solotentoonstelling in ShockBoxx Gallery in Hermosa Beach, Californië en zijn eerste twee vertoningen op de LA Art Show in het centrum van Los Angeles. Zijn werk is ook door een panel van curatoren geselecteerd als winnaar in de ArtSlant Artprize Showcase van 2018 en is te zien geweest in de wereldberoemde La Luz De Jesus Gallery en in talloze tentoonstellingen in Los Angeles en in het hele land.
Preston M. Smith werd geboren in 1978 in de VS. Zijn werken bevinden zich in meer dan 450 privécollecties in 23 landen, evenals in de collecties van beroemdheden zoals Ed Harris, Ashley Judd, Josh Lucas, Patricia Arquette en meer. Preston's werk is ook het onderwerp geweest van een korte documentaire getiteld "Negativity To Creativity".
