Nadine Vergues, a contemporary French artist, embarked on her artistic journey at the age of 16 when she joined the Fine Arts. However, life's inevitable course unfolded, leading her into the roles of wife and mother, temporarily distancing her from the dreams that initially fueled her artistic pursuits.
In 2005, amidst an industrial wasteland, Nadine stumbled upon a transformative encounter with a piece of felt. To her revelation, this industrial felt originated from plastic recycling and found common use as sound insulation in automobiles. Intrigued by its raw and rudimentary nature, Nadine developed a profound connection with the material, prompting her to invent techniques that involved diverting iron and wood tools. The soldering iron, in particular, became her indispensable creative tool.
In her artistic process, Nadine manipulates the felt with bold and instinctive gestures—altering, burning, rusting, cutting, polishing, and subjecting the material to various forms of mistreatment. This dynamic engagement quickly evolved, leading her to embrace the identity of a sculptor. The industrial felt she works with not only reflects contemporary temporal flexibility but also serves as a conduit for capturing the intuitive essence of the world within the intimate space of her creations.
Nadine Vergues has gained recognition with her works being presented by galleries in France and Seoul, South Korea. Her artistic portfolio includes participation in numerous group and individual exhibitions, as well as appearances at prominent art fairs such as Lille Art'up, St'Art, Art Montpellier, Salon d'Automne Paris, and Artcité. Her affiliation with the Fondation Taylor, along with publications in various press outlets and art magazines, underscores the impact and significance of her artistic contributions. Nadine's creations have found homes in both public and private collections, solidifying her presence as a distinctive force in the contemporary art scene.
