‘To know mono no aware is to discern the power and essence, not just of the moon and the cherry blossoms, but of every single thing existing in this world, and to be stirred by each of them’.
This painting depicts the cherry blossoms blowing from the tree beneath the rays of the spring equinox moon.
Influenced by artist Chang Dai-chien. I've used varied techniques and applications of black ink and tinted ink glazing over gold, silver and copper leaf. Sumi-e style painting is over acrylic or resin pours adding up to 4 layers to create a 3 dimensional depth to art.

When Marcia began her formal art education as a student of the Fine Arts at Weber State Universiy, Utah she became enchanted with the works of many great masters. Klimt, Mackintosh, Parish and Rodin were among her early favorites. She's often told that her La Femme Series is reminiscent of those art masters and pleased that their influence shows through in them.
Marcia was honored to have been discovered by and picked by Robert Rauschenberg (National Medal of Arts) as his choice for America's top rising artist.

She has a deep appreciation for many ancient spiritual teachings and art disciplines Sumi-e, Ikebana / Kado.
Her current bodies of work incorporate aspects of them in 2 dimensional form with the combination of inks and tints over gold leaf as well as painting within multiple layers of poured resin creating a 3 dimensional depth to her art.
Marcia's artwork can be found in private art collections throughout the US, Australia and Europe.
