Ludo Knaepkens, a contemporary painter from Belgium, attained his higher degree in painting from the IKO Art Academy in Hoogstraten. Having been immersed in the world of drawing and painting from an early age, Knaepkens inherited his artistic inclinations from his mother, who was a painter, and his father, who worked in transportation. This blend of influences has shaped him into a unique amalgamation: a petrolhead and a painter.
In his studio, Knaepkens delves into the realm of pop art using acrylic and oil paints. His artistic repertoire extends to experimentation with spray cans for street art, as well as mixed media and epoxy resin. He even ventures into unconventional mediums, such as repurposing vinyl records as canvases.
Fearless in the face of challenges, Knaepkens actively participates in competitions, assignments, fairs, and exhibitions. His artworks often draw inspiration from images etched in memory, infused with humor and a vibrant, graphic aesthetic that diverges from reality.
Knaepkens' passions for old-school motorcycles, vintage racing, pinups, transportation, and travel from yesteryears frequently find expression in his works. Music serves as another wellspring of inspiration, with lyrics and titles fueling his creative endeavors. His compositions feature his own models, meticulously crafted with a touch of humor, offering a unique perspective on familiar subjects.
