My first visit to India, it was not a painting trip, I had to take time to sketch where I could. Our first stop on the first day was India Gate, I sat on the floor qnd sketched first with a chunky graphite, then the transparent watercolour and finally some ink marks.
Designed by Edwin Lutyens India Gate is the Indian War Memorial, soldiers of the Indian Army who died between 1914 - 1921 in the First World War, in France, Flanders, Mesopotamia, Persia, East Africa, Gallipoli and elsewhere 13,300 servicemen's names, including some soldiers and officers from the United Kingdom, are inscribed on the gate.

Aquarel

Aquarel is een schilderij waarin Arabische gom transparante pigmenten bindt en de drager van het schilderij onthult. De gouache, van identieke samenstelling, is ondoorzichtig. Een aquarel is een schilderij op waterbasis op papier. We spreken zelden van een schilderij voor een in aquarel geschilderd werk. Aquarelschilderijen worden beschouwd als een unieke manier om op creatieve wijze dromen, illusies, emoties en lichtgevende gevoelens weer te geven met behulp van in water oplosbare pigmenten. Schilderen met aquarellen kan echter moeilijk zijn. Het is een moeilijk medium om onder de knie te krijgen, grotendeels omdat het meedogenloos en onvoorspelbaar kan zijn. Fouten zijn moeilijk te corrigeren en het vloeiende karakter ervan maakt het moeilijk te controleren. Toch zijn het juist deze eigenschappen die het medium zijn onmiskenbare charme geven.

Inkt

Een sterk getinte vloeistof of pasta die wordt gebruikt om papier of andere afdrukbare materialen te markeren. Het ontwerp wordt handmatig gedaan met een plaat, veer, borstel of stijltang.

Technisch Schilderij

Schilderen is een kunstvorm van schilderen op een oppervlak door esthetisch gekleurde vloeistoffen aan te brengen. Schilders vertegenwoordigen een zeer persoonlijke uitdrukking op dragers zoals papier, steen, canvas, hout, schors, glas, beton en vele andere substraten. For seventeen years she had a studio gallery in Norfolk in the east of England. Inspired by everything around her, preferring the freedom of painting from life, en plein air in the countryside, her philosophy is "Wherever you look there is inspiration”.
Linda's work is in private & corporate collections worldwide, and has been selected for exhibition at the Designer & Artists Copyright Society in London.

2020 two of Linda's works were selected for exhibition at the European Council in Montpellier for 16ieme "Semaine de les Peintres"

2019 her painting "Les Villemagnais" was awarded second place at les Artistes dans les rues at Villemagne d'Argentiere

September 2018 her painting “Un Coin Tranquille, Coulobres” was awarded first prize at the inaugural “Artistes dans les Rues” in Coulobres

July 2016 one of 90 artists selected to paint at Windsor Castle for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, Linda’s painting “Cornets & Bayonets” was awarded second place.

A qualified tutor, Linda has written for for Leisure Painter Magazine & led courses for Artist & Illustrator Magazine, she is a Professional Associate of the Society of all Artist’s.
As well as her own holidays and workshops, working as an associate tutor for the Field Studies Council for twelve years, Linda teaches on cruise ships and works with other private painting holiday providers. In the UK she has appeared in local & national press as well as on Radio & Television.………..
