Lea Poncharal is a contemporary French sculptor. Looking back, she acknowledges that her journey into the world of art was not a predestined calling or a sudden revelation; rather, it was a voyage of self-exploration and creative evolution. As a self-taught artist, Lea's early exposure to the world of painting came from her grandfather, who pursued painting as a hobby. This initial introduction to the realm of visual arts ignited her curiosity and kindled a fascination for the vast spectrum of artistic expressions.
Throughout her journey, Lea's artistic development was shaped by significant encounters with fellow artists, the profound impact of renowned creators' works, and, most importantly, her relentless quest to explore the depths of her own creativity and how to convey it. This unwavering drive led her to experiment with various techniques and materials, seeking the means of expression that resonated most with her inner voice.
While her work has come to be recognized as sculpture today, Lea has always found herself challenging the boundaries of conventional artistic categorizations. Instead, she prefers to embrace the identity of a visual artist, driven by an intrinsic love for the process of crafting and assembling materials.
Regardless of the label, Lea's artistic journey remains anchored in the pivotal decision she made - to live her life in pursuit of inspiration, wherever it may lead her. She acknowledges that her journey is just beginning, but what truly matters to her is the choice to follow her creative muse and make a livelihood out of it.
