This is an original design of a commission I called RRoots (for Our Roots). Symbols and heritage of several magnificent ancient cultures are illustrated in cubism. 'The Sun' features some amazing ancient symbols from Mayan, Aztecs, and a few other Central American cultures. This design features the Mayan calendars (embedded at the centre), surrounded by k'u k'ul (sacred god), hun, ink, chun, ahaw, and many more Mayan symbols and alphabets (Ref. Internet).

My work is my reflection in symbols, signs, characters and other symbolic elements of ancient cultures. I research a particular culture first, then pick those elements I wish to use in the artwork, add my own taste to the element, add my own elements that are mainly inspired by cubism, make the design then complete the painting. My works are mostly black and white.

I love to create work that reflects my love of the source material I work from, the ancient cultures and their untold stories, various ancient mystery traditions, and the ever-unfolding and often mystical experience of being alive in a world that is apparently material, immaterial, and prone to all manner of interesting archetypal expressions and wonderments.
