Kay Schwarz

Kay Schwarz is a contemporary German artist. He is a well-known graffiti artist who works by a number of aliases, including KaySchwarz157, Zarathustra157, YODA157, donnieKaracho157, and #K157. His artistic practice had its origins in the early 1990s. The rise of the graffiti culture in Leipzig following the unification coincided with the hunt for new artistic mediums. On the streets, Schwarz has always found inspiration.

The head studies in Kay Schwarz's paintings are arguably his most recurring and well-known motif. The majority of his images and graphics have been dominated by these expressive, stylized heads with their clean lines for more than ten years. Always present in the background are shapes, surfaces, viewpoints, recurring architectural components, and stationary urban areas.

Kay Schwarz was born in 1976, in Germany. He exhibited his works nationally, as well as internationally in the USA and Switzerland.
