Joe Joubert is a contemporary painter from South Africa. The conflict between man and nature, as well as our own human nature, is the starting point for his artistic process. Although his thoughts take shape in a fantasy world, Africanism, its iconography, and landscape play a significant role in his work. It is not his intention to create pure nature scenes simply by using nature as a topic. He wants to demonstrate that if we as humans put our superiority complex aside, we can still learn a lot from nature about how to live in harmony and balance with all other human and nonhuman inhabitants of the planet.
