In the morning the harbour is very peaceful , the fog has just lifted, sun is trying to come out, making the light very dramatic. The boats, docked side by side, are just off-white triangular shapes against dark water. A legion of masts and rigging creates and a tidy perspective. There is an overwhelming feeling of peace.

Joanna’s art stays away from social or political issues.  It focuses instead on everyday moments of beauty and interest, on story telling of who and how we are.  Staying away from “doom and gloom” of current news, it brings relief and moments of happiness and freedom.  This is not to say, that Joanna is not involved.  But instead of bringing more worries, she prefers to underline the human values, capabilities, imagination all present in art throughout history.

Joanna believes in community and is an active member of  the Burlington Fine Arts Association where she helps organizing workshops on topics relevant to an artist carrier, like different painting techniques, how to run your business or how to apply to a juried show.

Joanna has been selected into several juried shows on provincial and national levels,  and is currently working on approaching galleries to exhibit her work.
