Jean-Claude Sgro, a contemporary French artist, has traversed a remarkable artistic journey that spans from figurative drawing to the creation of expressive compositions. His unique canvas is clear acrylic glass, specifically Altuglas®, which he adorns with the vibrant strokes of acrylic paint.

While Jean-Claude has transitioned to these expressionist compositions, his commitment to drawing remains unwavering. His talent for drawing is further enriched by his practice of sketching living models, a process that has also provided him with invaluable insights into medical anatomy. This profound understanding of the human body has lent a unique depth and accuracy to his figurative artworks, enabling him to capture the essence of the human form with remarkable ease.

Jean-Claude's artworks come alive with the presence of numerous characters, each a distinctive thread woven into the tapestry of his compositions. Through their postures and movements, these characters become the conduits for conveying feelings and desires, lending a deep emotional resonance to his art.

What sets Jean-Claude's art apart is the immersive experience it offers to the spectator. As viewers engage with his creations, they are invited to embark on a journey of interpretation. Each composition is a narrative in itself, with characters that traverse the space of a surface painted on the back of the transparent plate. The artist's work challenges the observer to embrace patience, for these characters are not always immediately visible. The act of discovery, as one delves into the intricate layers of each piece, is an integral part of the experience.

Jean-Claude Sgro's art is a testament to his masterful skill in marrying the human form with artistic expression. His compositions are a visual symphony that beckons viewers to become storytellers, inventing their narratives as they traverse the multifaceted landscapes he paints on the transparent canvas. His work is an invitation to explore the hidden depths of human emotion and the dynamic interplay between space and form, all captured on the innovative canvas of clear acrylic glass.
