Jean-Christophe Cronel is a contemporary French sculptor. At the beginning he was experimenting with all the materials that passed through his hands: wood, stone, resin, each with their own characteristics and a different creative appeal, until he discovered metal and started working with it. In the form of threads, this mineral transformed by man for centuries inspires artists Mythology and Humanity. The discovery of this material that is both hard and light pushes him to train in iron work to expand knowledge and ability to tame steel.
Anatomy very quickly imposed itself in Cronel’s work. More than the form, his desire was to infuse refined and minimalist bodies with emotion and feeling. His interest focused on the study of synergology, this science of bodily and gestural behavior in order to refine his approach, the content in the form.
Jean-Christophe Cronel was born in 1975, in Nancy, France.
