Jacques Desvaux (JD) began his artistic journey from his earliest childhood, exploring painting and modeling at the Chemin Vert kindergarten in Caen. Although he encountered a lack of artistic education at the primary school on rue Bicoquet, he followed the drawing classes at the Malherbe high school with interest, ranking among the best behind his comrade Gérard Desplanques.

Introduced to modern art by his teacher Pierre Bazin, Jacques also trained in photography at the secular works of Caen, thus developing a nostalgia for black and white photography. His interest in art took shape at the age of 20 when he began his collection with a work by Joël Lacroix, before moving towards other artists such as Garrido, Jacques Deschamps, Gérard Desplanques and Pier Brouet.

In 1986, his meeting with Pierre Juhel, known as Judikahel, was decisive in his artistic career, encouraging him to take up painting. He also broadened his artistic horizons by meeting painters like Jean-Claude Casanova, Henri Crocq and Alain Bertrand in the South.

Trained and supported by his wife Thérèse, a former student of the Beaux Arts de Roubaix and decorator, Jacques also benefited from the advice of his brother-in-law Alain A. Marchand, painter and former professor of the Beaux-Arts de Paris. His work has been exhibited on several occasions, notably at the Château de Gréoux-les-Bains, and his paintings have been acquired by institutions and collectors in France and abroad.

Jacques Desvaux considers himself a semi-dry art painter, close to art brut, naive and childish, skillfully mixing figurative and abstract in his creations. His works are often described as humorous, sometimes sarcastic, but always imbued with poetry, testifying to his talent as a colorist and his unique outlook on the world around him.
