Women in Iran and elsewhere in the Islamic world are viewed as the source of all evil. Their every move is brutally monitored and curtailed. The smallest infraction – a wanton wisp of hair escaping a headscarf – merits maximum punishment: Flogging in public, or worse. This is happening in Iran even as we speak. In 2005, a hospital in Tehran was accused of refusing entry to women who did not wear head-to-toe covering.

According to the Women’s Forum Against Fundamentalism in Iran, two out of every three Iranian women have experienced serious domestic violence. Eighty one per cent of married women have experienced domestic violence in their first year of marriage.
1990, Iranian journalist, Freidoune Sahebjam, published a haunting and carefully rendered account of how, on August 15, 1986, a 35-year-old woman was stoned to death in Kupayeh, Iran. It is titled: The Stoning of Soraya M. Soraya, (peace be upon her), was lynched by the villagers with whom she had lived all her life. Her own father, her two sons, and her lying, greedy, heartless, criminal-husband, Ghorban-Ali, all threw the first stones.

“Woman, Islam, & Equity” underscores the buck Islamofascist’s animalistic and violent propensity for rape:

“Mina Mohammadian was executed on February 29, 1987, on political charges. She was held in solitary confinement for eleven months prior to her execution. During that period, she went through forty interrogation sessions, during which she was subjected to the most horrendous tortures. She was repeatedly raped by the regime’s Guards. She was 22 at the time of her execution.”

“Women political prisoners are kept in so-called “residential units” (cement cages, 50 cm square), with their heads cramped down onto their knees, for months at a time. They are beaten regularly, up to 50 times a day. Another common torture of women political prisoners, besides systematic flogging, is suspension for hours from the ceiling by the hands, or upside down, by the feet. In some cases, the torture leads first to paralysis, then to the woman’s death. Nahid Shahrokhi- Mahalati, a 22-year-old teacher, was suspended from the ceiling for a prolonged period. She died under torture.”

“Exceptions are not made for foreign nationals. Annie Ezbar, a French nurse who had come to the assistance of the Iranian Resistance’s National Liberation Army, was captured in an ambulance with her medical equipment. Hashemi Rafsanjani, then the regime’s parliament speaker, acknowledged her arrest. After going through extensive torture, Mrs. Ezbar was executed.”

“According to a “religious” decree, virgin women prisoners must as a rule be raped before their execution, “lest they go to Paradise.” Therefore, the night before execution, a Guard rapes the condemned woman. After her execution, the religious judge at the prison writes out a marriage certificate and sends it to the victim’s family, along with a box of sweets.”
On August 11, Zoleykhah Kadkhoda was arrested, sentenced to death for adultery and publicly stoned; the woman survived the execution and was later hospitalized. The Execution of Zahra Kazemi, a Canadian photojournalist
Canadian tortured for days, says Iranian doctor, reports:
“The massive injuries suffered by Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi while in Iranian custody were so disturbing to the doctor who examined her that he felt compelled to flee the country to expose what happened.”

Azam listed the injuries he discovered on Kazemi:

A broken nose.
A large bruise on the right side of her forehead extending to the side of her head.
A bloody lump on the back of her head.
Evidence of internal bleeding of the brain.
A ruptured left ear drum.
Deep, long scratches on the back of her neck and calves.
Evidence of broken ribs.
Bruises on her abdomen and on her knees.
Evidence of flogging on her back.
Broken fingers and nails missing.
A smashed toe.
Bruised and swollen feet, possibly the result of a flogging.
As a male doctor, he was not allowed to examine the woman’s genital area but a female nurse testified to evidence of brutal and violent rape.

Iranian Islamic supremacist beheads its seven year-old daughter for being raped by its brother

TEHRAN (Reuters) – An Iranian man cut off his seven- year-old daughter’s head after suspecting she had been raped by her uncle, the Jomhuri-ye Eslami newspaper said on Sunday. ...”The motive behind the killing was to defend my honor, fame, and dignity,” the paper quoted the father as saying. Needless to say, this sand Nazi did not have the courage to deal with its brother or brother-in-law; murdering a seven-year-old girl was more in line with its level of physical courage.

In CIVILIZED countries, as opposed to Islamic supremacist countries, a woman gets into no trouble for INTENTIONALLY killing a man who is trying to rape her. Iran is a concentration camp in which most of the people are the inmates and the government is the guards.

In 2002, in Saudi Arabia, religious policemen prevented 14 year old schoolgirls from leaving a burning school building because they were not wearing their headscarves and abayahs. Fifteen girls died.

...One witness said he saw three policemen “beating young girls to prevent them from leaving the school because they were not wearing the abaya”.
The Saudi Gazette quoted witnesses as saying that the police – known as the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice – had stopped men who tried to help the girls and warned “it is a sinful to approach them”.
The father of one of the dead girls said that the school watchman even refused to open the gates to let the girls out.

EYEWITNESS TO STONING WOMAN IN SAUDI ARABIA FOR ADULTERY

[Freeman Centre’s List’s Editor’s Note: When the Arabs attack Israelis with stones they call it NON-VIOLENCE. The media and most people agree. Read below and see just how non-violent it is.]

When I was sent to Riyadh for a month to work with the US Air Force for a joint assignment, I never realized the sights I’d see. One of them was a public stoning. All I saw was a woman standing in a hole tied to a post, she was shoulder deep in the hole. The guy I was with wanted to see it. It’s rare that westerners are even allowed to see this They gathered around this poor girl for around an hour, throwing rocks at her.

Stoning a human to death

Dear readers, please put on your thinking cap and imagine a mental picture of the following story.

A deep hole is dug in the ground. A 30 year old lady, tied up from feet to shoulders, as a stick, is lowered alive into this hole, in a standing position. Only her neck and head are visible. Can you imagine a human head sticking above ground?

When the order is given, a man throws a fist-sized stone at her protruding head. The stone hits her head with a thud. She screems in pain as the blood oozes down her face. Another man picks up a stone and scraps the side of her head drawing a lateral line of blood. She cries and screems in excruciating pain. Since it is a free for all, a teenage spectator from this open playing field, tries his luck, but misses her head completely. Another aims at her and flings it with force. The stone hits its intended target, her forehead.

She screems and cries loudly for mercy. There is now a gash on her forehead. Blood spurting out, down her eyes, nose, cheeks, mouth and down to the ground. She cries out for mercy but to not avail. The minutes become an hour, between the many misses, scraps, nicks, chips and strikes. Another spectator flings forcefully at her.

The stone hits the bridge of her nose with another thud. She screems again and again. This time the blood comes down from inside and outside her nose. Probably, her nasal bridge-bone is broken, causing the bleeding from inside her nostrils as well. Though her wounds are grave, as you can imagine, her screems by now are not as vociferous as earlier, and her tears help to wash some of the blood on her cheeks. Her vision has completely gone with the blood coating. The next stone hits her again. A piece of flesh pops out. No, its not, oh god, it really can’t be her eye-ball. It is so bloody that you can’t really make out. By this time, blood has covered her entire face and the ground in front of her. She still makes groaning sounds. More time pass. Stoning her, continues. Her sounds are less and less audible. Her face has become unrecognisable. Flesh, like mashed meat is her face, but only more bloody, as she now literally has no human face. Small strips of flesh, like locks of hair are hanging from her. Her head is now droopping forward. At this stage a hit on her make splashes of blood. She has stopped making a sound for the last two stone pelting. Two hours have passed. The Islamic authorities check her neck for pulse. It is still beating but barely, due to the loss of blood. A flesh piece drops off her head, as the stoning process continues.

Finally, death comes to this lady. She is then left there for a few more hours for the spectators to see, because this is a public lesson for all muslim females, who commit adultery. Then her father and relatives are allowed to dig her body, and bring it above ground. Pieces of her flesh, lying on the ground, is collected and because she has no face, it is put back on the front of her head, and bundled up. Now readers, imagine that is your mother, or your daughter, or sister, or even you, yourself.

DNA is not accepted in Islam, but at least 4 witnesses of reputable character, should give testimony of the actual penetration of the sexual intercourse to convict him. You might ask, who has sexual intercourse in front of 4 witnesses? I can also ask you “how can you consider 4 men watching others’ sexual intercourse, as reputable characters?” But, there is no question or denying that this is not a traditonal, customary, cultural or a kangaroo court, but a legal Islamic court, with legal Islamic judges and legal expert Islamic officials, in the muslim state of Bakori ( Nigeria), of the legal Government, democratically elected by the Muslim citizens of this state. These are the undeniable authentic facts, which no amount of words or actions can ever repudiate.

Hear the deafening silence of the 1 billion muslims worldwide, who are in a vigorous fit of inactivity, calmly pretending not to know. But, the balance 5/6th of the world, (1.5 billion Christians, 1.1 billion Taoists, 1 billion Hindus, 700 million Bhuddists and others) can do something to stop this barbarism of the middle-east.

Treatment of Women by Palestinians: femicide or the so-called “honor killing”

A Palestinian girl who was raped and impregnated by her two brothers was later murdered by her own mother – even though her daughter was the crime’s innocent victim – in another of the disturbingly common, if vastly underreported, instances of “honor killings.” The mother will be sentenced in two weeks, but a harsh penalty is not expected.
Note that the Palestinian girl was raped by her own incestuous brothers, whose behavior doubtlessly had a lot to do with their upbringing by their mother. Instead of disowning her rapist sons, however, the mother covered its innocent daughter’s face with a plastic bag, slit her wrists, and finally beat her across the head until she died. This is Palestinian “honor” at its finest.

ABU QASH, West Bank — Raped by her brothers and impregnated, Rofayda Qaoud refused to commit suicide, her mother recalls, even after she bought the 17-year-old a razor with which to slit her wrists. So Amira Abu Hanhan Qaoud says she did what she believes any good Palestinian parent would: restored her family’s “honor” through murder.

It probably never occurred to this Palestinian sow to cut its own throat instead of her daughter’s wrists for raising her sons to be not only rapists but incestuous as well.

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN – When Neelum Aziz visited Kashmir for the first time last year, the young British girl couldn’t wait to explore her family’s home village. But her parents had something else in mind.
Two weeks after arriving in Kotli – in the Pakistan-administered part of the disputed territory – Ms. Aziz was told she had to marry her cousin.

“[My father and uncle] took away my [British] passport, money, and other belongings and locked me up,” she says. “I screamed and shouted and kept on crying. My tears dried up, but my family elders did not listen to me and married me to a cousin of mine without my consent,” she says.

Aziz’s story is only the most recent example of hundreds of young girls who become victims of their families’ desire to preserve an age-old tradition. According to human rights activists, 250 girls like Aziz – daughters of British citizens from Pakistan – were forced into marriages with relatives in 2002 alone.

Ahmed, who did not resist arrest, was unrepentant. ...``I told the police that I am an honorable father and I slaughtered my dishonored daughter and the three other girls,’’ he said. ``I wish that I get a chance to eliminate the boy she ran away with and set his home on fire.’’

...The number of rapes committed by Muslim immigrants in Western nations are so extremely high that it is difficult to view them only as random acts of individuals. It resembles warfare. Muhammad himself had forced sex (rape) with several of his slave girls/concubines. This is perfectly allowed, both in the sunna and in the Koran. If you postulate that many of the Muslims in Europe view themselves as a conquering army and that European women are simply war booty, it all makes perfect sense and is in full accordance with Islamic law.

...A number of teenaged Australian girls were subjected to hours of sexual degradation during a spate of gang rapes in Sydney that occurred between 1998 and 2002. ...The young victims were informed that they were “sluts” and “Aussie pigs” while they were being hunted down and abused.

In the NSW Supreme Court in December 2005, a visiting Pakistani rapist testified that his victims had no right to say no because they were not wearing a headscarf.

In Sudan – where Arab Muslims slaughter black Muslim and Christian Sudanese in the ongoing genocide – former Sudanese slave and now a human rights’ activist, Simon Deng, says he witnessed girls and women being raped and that the Arab regime of Khartoum sends its soldiers to the field to rape and murder. In other reports, women who are captured by government forces are asked; “Are you Christian or Muslim?” and those who answer Christian, are gang-raped before having their breasts cut off.

In France, Samira Bellil broke her silence – after enduring years of repeated gang rapes in one of the Muslim populated public housing projects – and wrote a book, In the hell of the tournantes [tournantes = “taking turns” when gang-raping a woman], that shocked France. Describing how gang rape is rampant in the banlieues, she explained to Time that, “any neighborhood girl who smokes, uses makeup or wears attractive clothes is a whore.”

Words are very important. With words, history is written.
A misuse of words leads to a misleading history.
The history of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is being written with the wrong words : Rape, War, etc.
The whole world is being misled because of the improper choice of words.


RAPE
In the D. R. Congo, formerly known as Zaire, the atrocities done unto women are being called “rape”.
But by the definition of rape : “Non-consensual sexual intercourse, sexual assault”, we find that the actions done to women surpass that definition.
Therefore, we cannot call “rape” this general torture being committed on women in the Kivu region of the D.R. Congo.


GENOCIDE
We have been denied the use of the word Genocide for the crimes against women. Supposedly because by definition, the word does not fit the facts :
A genocide is the deliberate and systematic destruction of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group.
Although these crimes are being committed by people from Rwanda on women of the D. R. Congo, perhaps women are not considered a racial, ethnic, religious or national group. Therefore, the women of the Congo may not “qualify” as victims of a genocide.
What’s being committed in the Kivu region of the D.R. Congo is

FEMICIDE : an extermination of women.
That word cannot be found in dictionaries. That’s probably because this femicide does not have a precedent. There have never existed such an evil scheme before.
Obviously, the purpose of the perpetrators is to destroy the reproductive capability of women. They do not seek pleasure or to quench some fantasies. The techniques for that extermination have been well studied and are being thoroughly applied.

STOP the FEMICIDE in the D. R. CONGO.

Femicides of Juarez Fact Sheet
For more than a decade, the city of Juarez, near the US-Mexico border, has been a killing field for young women, the site of nearly 400 unsolved murders and many more abductions. Despite the horrific nature of these crimes, authorities at all levels exhibit indifference, and there is strong evidence that some officials may be involved in the crimes. Impunity and corruption has permitted the criminals, whoever they are, to continue committing these acts, knowing there will be no consequences.

A significant number of victims work in maquiladoras — sweatshops that produce items for export, with 90 percent of the products destined for the United States. The maquiladoras employ mainly young women at poverty-level wages. In combination with lax environmental regulations and low tariffs under the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the maquiladoras are amassing tremendous wealth. Yet despite the crime wave, they offer almost no protection for their workers. High profile government campaigns such as Ponte Vista (Be Aware), a self defense program, and supplying women with whistles have proven to be ineffective and are carried out mainly for public relations purposes.

Small advances in the struggle for justice are due to the perseverance of victims’ families who cannot be silenced despite the efforts of state and federal authorities to keep them quiet. Campaigns by local, national and international non-governmental organizations have been very important in the efforts for justice. Often grassroots groups in Juarez work in a climate of threats and defamation by government officials for making one simple demand — STOP THE FEMICIDE!

The world we live in is a violent nasty one..I have always wondered why when we have all that we need. Women are the victims everywhere and why? Thoes thoughts are always on their lips…
I can only say that I hopr these men are punished somehow, somewhere, someday…In a way to which is fitting for their crimes.

This comes on the day when I have read an account in our newspaper of a British Muslim lady who is defying Muslim teaching by receiving driving lessons from a person who is not a member of her family.

Muslims in this country are much more relaxed – well, most of them anyway. There is a lovely Muslim family near us that we chat with in their shop. The daughter and the mother boss the father about and he just puts up with it.

I confess I have only read part of your account because it is too painful to read. I think the sign of a civilised country is surely the way it treats its women, elderly folk, disabled people, children and prisoners.

Any man who raises his hand to his wife doesn’t deserve to have a wife in my opinion.

On a lighter note, I sometimes get scolded if I forget to do the dusting :) In explanation, my wife is the wage-earner and because I am retired for medical reasons I do the housework. I wonder what an Iranian man would make of that :)

Before I shut up, may I say your painting is, as usual, excellent Helene.

Coppertrees is so right. I am a Christian, but I am not blind to the fact that there are “Christians” such as the Phelps family in USA who spread poison in the name of Christ. I haven’t studied Islam, but I feel sure that it wasn’t intended to encourage such evil behaviour. I have met some lovely Muslims and I am sure they are in the majority, but it only takes a few terrorists to spread evil. Ah well – time to go to bed now to build up my energy for all that housework tomorrow :)

thank you so much for posting this, it is simply beyond understanding for me.

I just have never been able to comprehend how a group can take what originally started out as a beautiful way of living and honoring a higher power and turn it into a way to foment power and brutality over someone else. Every organized ‘religion’ seems to have their own extremists who feel the need to hurt and abuse others…...................

I hope someday there won’t be a reason to try to understand it…...........

I have always been horrified by the mutilation, murder, kidnapping, imprisonment and slavery of women under the guise of a religious or cultural banner.
This post was a reminder of the many stories I know ….one of a brother murdering his sister at the request of his father and then so sad and grief stricken killing himself…
