Finlay became famous using ink pens, with abundant stippling, cross-hatching
and scratch-board techniques. When he worked for Weird Tales, Finlay illustrated
the works of famous writers, including Howard Phillips Lovecraft.
For this tribute I have chosen, as a model, four works to be graphically reworked
in a modern key, while maintaining the artistic characteristics chosen by the author:
1) Reconnaissance Ship, 1956
2) The Frozen Summer – David Redd, 1969
3) The Angry Street – G. K. Chesterton, 1947
4) An Apple for the Teacher – Robert F. Young, 1955

Gianluca R. Pisano è nato a Carrara il 1 ottobre 1962 e nel 1985 si è trasferito nella città di Manduria, in Puglia. Pratica Karate Do dal 1974 dedicandosi ancor oggi alla sua diffusione e ha studiato presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria Informatica di Lecce.
La sua estroversa curiosità lo ha condotto a cimentarsi in varie Arti e Mestieri: disegno, grafica, fotografia, composizione musicale, editoria, scultura, forgiatura, ebanisteria e arte del vetro. In più tarda età si è dedicato allo studio della Teoria dei Numeri pubblicando diversi testi sull’argomento.
Gianluca R. Pisano è l'autore del Poema musicale " Dionisiade ", composto da due Libri i quali a loro volta sono formati da più Canti. Il Primo Libro intitolato Il Canto di Tara, è costituito da dodici Canti, mentre il Secondo Libro, intitolato Il sogno di Eusinoo, è ordinato in centoquarantaquattro Canti suddivisi in dodici Capitoli. Il Canto di Tara narra le peripezie compiute da Eusinoo, grande danzatore greco atlantoideo, il quale, suo malgrado, è costretto a percorrere le vie che il Fato decreta da lui debbano essere percorse per divenire l’Avo dei Messapi.
