Emilio Greco (Catania, 1913 - Rome, 1995) was an Italian sculptor, writer and illustrator. In 1952 he won the chair of sculpture at the Carrara Academy thanks also to the undisputed successes obtained. He continued teaching for several years in Naples (from 1955 to 1967) and then again in the capital from 1967 to 1975, after which he first held the chair at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
His cycle of the Great Bathers and his portraits of young women are poetic. His are the Monument to Pope John XXIII in St. Peter's and the Doors of the Cathedral of Orvieto (1970) The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and the Pushkin Museum in Moscow dedicated a room of sculptures and graphic works to him. In Catania, the museum dedicated to him offered a collection of numerous lithographs and etchings.
