Chrice MAYOUMA is a contemporary French painter born in Brazzaville, Congo.
Passionate about painting and drawing from his childhood, he is an unconventional and self-taught figurative painter who did not follow a classical academic path.
Having carried out his artistic education at home, he has always drawn on his daily experiences to work on his creations as a diary for himself and a source of inspiration for his viewer.
At the age of 12, he arrived in France after having left the Congo following the various civil wars which shook the country in the 90s. The horror visions of war had a profound effect on his artistic approach, he decided to take his brushes to paint in his paintings only what is most positive in Man, thus claiming an optimistic art marked by a deep humanism.
Through a gallery of universal, inspiring and committed characters, he integrates the image of Man into his natural part, in order to exalt the freedom of being. We observe in his paintings a strong presence of a resplendent ecosystem, testifying to his deep love for nature and his commitment to safeguarding it.
His artistic style is inspired by both neoclassicism via the work of Jacques-Louis David and the innocence of naive art, having Henri Rousseau as a model. In his characteristic figurative approach, he works the splendor and depth of pigments with combinations of oil paint and charcoal. This composition allows him to play on contrasts and the brilliance of colors to better highlight in his paintings subjects of peace, understanding of others, as well as ecology. He uses paper as his main support, thanks to which he captures the depth of the material, in order to reveal the beauty of his emotions.
An idealist, he presents each of his plastic works as totems of inspiration allowing everyone to transcend themselves and reveal the most attractive part of human nature.
