Carla Lima, born in 1970 in Luanda, came to Portugal in 1975. She graduated in Art History in Coimbra and it is through painting that she can express herself creatively. Growing up in a family that valued artistic expression, an art lover, she considers herself a self-taught painter. Initially, his artistic explorations were guided by his intuition, the incessant search for new forms of expression and a desire to understand the nuances of abstract painting. Without the restrictions of a formal curriculum, he immersed himself in audacious experiments, both in his watercolor works and in his paintings on acrylic canvas, developing a unique language that characterizes his work. His paintings reveal an intricate game of shapes and colors, reflecting an inquisitive mind, thirsty for discovery, being the visual reflection of his deepest emotions and life experiences. Carla Lima sees each brushstroke as a journey of self-discovery, creating an intimate dialogue between the canvas and her inner expression. By expressing himself through free brushstrokes devoid of conventions, he seeks to highlight the importance of affection, always demonstrating a high level of rigor in his own art. From an early age, abstract became his preferred language to convey the complexity of his feelings. His painting finds inspiration in different artistic movements, with a marked affinity with abstract expressionism, a form of expressive art that transcends figurative representation. Carla Lima bets on this subjective expression, whose primary objective is to evoke emotions in the viewer. The interpretation of his painting rests on the subjectivity of each individual, with each person being able to glimpse a personal inner universe in it.
